Monique Gabriela Curnen is an actress who first turned heads as Ryan Gosling's fellow teacher and love interest in the critically acclaimed film, Half Nelson. She began her acting career in 2001 and has since been lingering on television as a guest star on various primetime series.
Raised outside Boston, Massachusetts with her three brothers, Curnen often watched one of her older brothers perform in school pit orchestra and was eventually captivated by the acting world. She then enrolled in many school plays and, after exploring other creative avenues in college, she moved to New York where she appeared in several theatrical productions, including Maria Full of Grace, Bernard and Doris and The Argentine.
Curnen most notably appeared as a street hustler with an terminal condition in the drama series House, a frank mob informant in Without a Trace, a scarred and ruthless chola in Daybreak, and an abused wife fleeing her husband in Journeyman. She also wooed international viewers as the tough yet vulnerable Detective Ramirez in the film The Dark Knight.
In 2009, Monique Gabriela Curnen was cast in The Unusuals, her first regular role on TV.
