Michael Lynche was born on May 31, 1983 in Astoria, NY. The younger brother of season 3 semifinalist Marque Lynche Jr., he was initially a football player for the University of Central Florida. After dropping out to take care of her sick mother, he did some acting and started work as a personal trainer.
He joined American Idol through auditions in Orlando. Before the announcement of the Top 24, rumors that he was disqualified--fueled in part by his father revealing to the local press of his inclusion--floated on the Internet. The network declined comment on the matter.
He received the only judges' save this season during Top 9 week, forcing two contestants home the following week. He was finally eliminated during Top 4 week.
