Mateen Kemet is a 41-year old teacher from the Bronx, New York. He attended Lehman High and Westchester Community College, majoring in accounting. He also took up Economics with a minor in Black Studies at San Francisco State University. His passions at the time were football, the NFL and becoming the black Donald Trump. He returned to the Big Apple after graduation and worked for the investment banking firm Sandler O’Neil & Partners. He continued his Wall Street experience until 1995, when, after the death of a friend, he decided to quit the corporate life. He started a temporary teaching job that lasted ten years, while studying to become a filmmaker. He graduated in 2003 with a MFA in film production. Among Kemet’s favorite directors are Spike Lee, David Lynch, Bernardo Bertollucci, Orson Wells, Alfred Hitchcock, Koyoshi Kurosawa, Akira Kurosawa, Clint Eastwood, Steven Soderbergh and Oliver Stone.
