American actor and comedian Mark Hamill was born on September 25, 1951 in Oakland, California. He attended numerous schools during his childhood, and majored in drama at the Los Angeles City College.
Mark Hamill made his acting debut on The Bill Cosby Show in 1970. One of the first jobs he had was voicing the character Corey Anders on the cartoon Jeannie by Hanna-Barbera Productions. He also appeared on the series General Hospital, before moving on to voice a variety of animated characters. These shows include The New Scooby-Doo Movies in 1972. He was also a guest star in episodes of The Texas Wheelers and The Manhunter. In 1977, he became famous for voicing Sean in Wizards. That year, his breakthrough role also came, and he was cast as Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy. For his portrayal, he was awarded twice with the Saturn Award for Best Actor (Film), once in 1980 and again in 1983. In 1977, Hamill suffered an accident in a car crash. He fractured his left cheekbone and his nose, but went back to film the second Star Wars film, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
Mark Hamill continued doing voicework, and is noted for being Col. Christopher Blair in the Wing Commander video game. He is also credited and is famous for being the voice of The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, which debuted in 1992. He received praise for his portrayal, and has continued to do the voice for the character in several Batman spin-offs. He was also in the short-lived action series Birds of Prey, by the WB, featuring his voice as the Joker once again. He has also worked on numerous villains in animated series, such as the Hobgoblin in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Maximus in Fantastic Four and is also in other cartoons like Codename: Kids Next Door, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
