Mother and son Margie and Luke are one of eleven teams racing around the world in the 14th season of The Amazing Race.
This pair have been through a lot. 50-year-old Margie Adams, a clinical research associate, has been patient in dealing with his son being born deaf. Now, 22-year-old Luke is a college graduate, and even made his mother proud by giving the valedictorian speech at the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind.
The two have used Luke’s condition to bond; they even have their own sign language system. The race is definitely a test for both of them; mom can be a little controlling, and kid’s condition can be a hindrance, but both are excited to see new places and take on more adventures, just like when they go hiking during their free time. Luke, possibly one of the show’s biggest fans, hopes to prove that the deaf can do anything if they set their mind to it.
