Marcus had his first shot in stand-up comedy when a fellow comic introduced him to a comedy club owner, who immediately invited him to do five minutes for the coming weekend. Since then, Marcus has devoted his time performing in different clubs and making people from all walks of life laugh. He discovered his talent in comedy back when he was just a kid, when he would do voices to entertain his family and friends. For him, the worst nightmare that a stand-up comedian could ever have is to get on a show only to realize that no one is coming to see you.
As for his influences, Marcus has tons of comedians on his list. When he was eight years old, he would always listen to the radio comedy show called Dr. Demento. That was the first time that he heard a stand-up. His father also gave him old Cosby records which eventually led him in researching for other comedians. As for joining the Last Comic Standing, Marcus hopes to further gain widespread recognition and to have more people come to see his shows.
Marcus became known as one of the finalists of the Last Comic Standing, a reality talent show on NBC searching for the funniest and wackiest stand-up comedian in the country. The winner shall receive a contract with NBC Universal and a Bravo Special. He finished in second place, failing to beat Iliza Shlesinger in the final round.
