Marcel Vigneron became known as a master cook at Joel Robuchon at the Mansion. He comes from Bainbridge, Washington and resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to that job, he served as a teacher's assistant in the Culinary Institute of America.
His belief that cooking is a form of expression and creativity landed him a spot as one of the contestants in the reality cooking show Top Chef. After finishing 2nd place on the second season of the show, he was later asked to return for the All-Star edition in season 8. He was eliminated on the 7th episode as the executive chef of his team, Etch.
He had a couple of unfortunate run-ins with fans because of his fame. In 2007, he became involved in an incident at a nightclub wherein he was assaulted by a fan of the show and was hit on the face with a bottle. He was also arrested in 2008 when the police suspected him of DUI and pulled him over for speeding. Despite these troubles, he continued to work on his career. In 2010, he booked a role in the Syfy reality television show Marcel's Quantum Kitchen.
