Mandy Bruno, who was born on September 20, 1981 in Phoenix, Arizona, is an Emmy nominated actress who plays Marina Cooper in the soap opera, Guiding Light. She was hired for the role during her senior year, which she spent in Otterbein College in Westville Ohio. There, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater eight weeks after landing the role. She also holds a concentration degree in dance, and has studied voice as well.
The actress has also made headlines before her career skyrocketed. While attending Jesuit High School in Portland Oregon, the school’s administration didn’t allow her to appear in the title role of their production of Jesus Christ Superstar. She garnered a notable amount of media attention, which eventually stopped when she was cast in the role of Pilate.
In 2006, she received her first nomination for a Daytime Emmy Award in 2006 for Outstanding Younger Actress. Bruno has also appeared on Broadway's revival of Les Mis?rables, playing the role of Eponine. She appeared at the Broadhurst Theatre from April to June of 2007. Also, she has worked on other productions in the Columbus area. Bruno portrayed Justin Moritz, the bride of Frankenstein, in October that year, appearing off-Broadway in Frankenstein: The Musical. She was also in a production of Beauty and the Beast, which was performed at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera House.
Mandy Bruno’s other credits include The Man Who Would Be King, which enabled her to work once again with her former Guiding Light co-star, Paul Anthony Stewart. She has also been seen on Vanity Fair, Green Gables and Little Shop of Horrors. Some commercials she has appeared in are those for RCN, as well as for the Partnership for a Drug Free America.
