Biography

Award-winning actress Lucy Punch was born on December 30, 1977 in London, England. She began her career as a member of the National Youth Theatre from 1993 to 1997, before pursuing further training at the University College London. She later dropped out to continue her acting career.

She made her acting debut in 1998, appearing in an episode of The New Adventures of Robin Hood. She later appeared in other British television shows such as Renford Rejects, Days Like These and Let Them Eat Cake. She made her film debut in 2000’s Cinderella, and later intensified her film appearances with roles in Greenfingers and It’s Not You, It’s Me.

Punch later attempted to start a career in the United States, through television appearances in shows such as Dinotopia and, later, in the 2004 film Ella Enchanted. While still remaining acting in the British scene—especially through a role in the medical drama Doc Martin—she took a role in the short-lived comedy series The Class, where she appeared as successful television reporter Holly Ellenbogen. She later left the show to pursue other projects, including the film Are You Ready for Love?, which earned her honors from that year’s Monaco International Film Festival.
