Liza Victoria Huber was born to soap opera actress Susan Lucci and Austrian businessman Helmut Huber on February 22, 1975 in Long Island, New York. She is the elder of two children and is fluent in speaking German and Italian. She was educated at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, The Terry Schreiber Studio and at the Lynette Sheldon Actors Studio. Huber also continued to study acting at NYU Tisch School of the Arts with Richard Schechner. Her first uncredited television appearance was in Lifetime's 1995 film entitled Ebbie, which starred her mother. In 1999, she was cast for NBC's soap opera, Passions and left the show a year later to be with her fiancé at the time. In 2002, she was recalled to the show and during her second round with Passions, her relationship with her fiancé ended. In 2004, she married Alexander George Hesterberg III, who fathered her baby boy, Royce Alexander.
Gwen Hotchkiss Winthrop is played by Liza Huber on the soap opera, Passions. Gwen was the only daughter of Rebecca and Jonathan Hotchkiss, who always was disappointed that their child was not a boy. She grew up trying to prove herself to her father, but never met his expectations. When she was twelve, she met Ethan Crane in boarding school and the two soon developed a relationship which lasted well into high school. The two temporarily separated in college but as soon as Ethan graduated from law school, he returned to Harmony and back into Gwen's arms. Ethan assured Gwen that he loved her, though she believed he was only marrying her to please their families.
