24-year old Leslie Hunter traveled all the way from her hometown Chicago, Illinois to Los Angeles in pursuit of her dream to become the next American Idol
. Before auditioning, Leslie was balancing her job as a dog walker with life as a student. Growing up, Leslie had to struggle with Lupus. However, the disease did not stop her from following her desire to become a professional singer. Other musical talents that Leslie possesses are playing the piano and composing songs. Her favorite artists are Beck, White Stripes, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Bjork, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Fiona Apple and Joni Michell. Randy is her favorite judge on the show.
Leslie Hunter was axed from the sixth season of American Idol on March 1, 2007 but has retained a strong network of fans that continues to support her latest efforts in the music circuit. Inspired by her avid supporters, she continues to come up with fresh tunes and has a forthcoming disc, which she describes as a much jazzier, dance-generated take on her sultry vocals.
Beyond her music career, Leslie Hunt fills her time as a breed consultant, a position she made up that matches owners-to-be with the dog breed that best fits their lifestyles.
