Lee Tergesen was born on July 8, 1965 in Ivoryton, Connecticut. During an interview with the website TNT.tv, he recalled that his earliest desire to become a performer came at a family party when he was just four years old. He eventually graduated from Valley Regional High School in Deep River, Connecticut, then went on to pursue further training at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy located in Manhattan. Tergesen also briefly worked as a waiter at the Empire Diner in New York. Among the films he has acted in are Wayne’s World, The Forgotten, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. He has also worked on television shows such as Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Desperate Housewives,
and Rescue Me.
Tobias Beecher is portrayed by Lee Tergesen in the HBO prison drama television series Oz. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and used to be a successful lawyer, as well as a devoted father and husband. However, his main fault was suffering from alcoholism. Tobias was then convicted of killing a young girl while he was driving drunk, and he was singled out by the judge in his case to be made an example of, getting sentenced to 15 years of incarceration.
