LaVan Davis is a familiar presence onstage with his portfolio of highly acclaimed, African-American stage plays which have been on tour over the years. He was an audience favorite as Crazy Joe in the touring production of De Obeah Mon. He was also part of Mickey Stevenson’s The Gospel Truth and essayed dual roles as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and The Buffalo Soldier in Maurice Kitchen’s Voices. Davis also has an impressive musical background as member of the original Ricky Grundy Chorale and featured lead singer on the group’s recording of "Lead Me On." Once a member of the L.A. Mass Choir, Davis is currently studying opera.
Curtis Payne, played by LaVan Davis on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, is the king of the Payne household. His life and home are turned inside out and upside down when he takes in his nephew, CJ, and the rest of his family.
