Laurel Schmidt was born on April 7, 1986 to a middle class family in Detroit. She is a modern day pirate who used to live in her van in Venice Beach, California with a friend and her dog. She used to move from beach to beach and campsite to campsite to stay out of trouble with the law but unfortunately one day her van was impounded. Schmidt couldn't afford to get it out so she turned the title to the tow company and later on came to Pirate Master. Her previous jobs included being a sales associate, waitress and an employee for a moving company. She is a self-taught glass-blowing artist and this is what she does to sustain herself. Her hobbies include skateboarding, swimming, snowboarding, snowmobiling, tennis and dancing.
Laurel Schmidt is among sixteen modern day pirates cast away to find a treasure worth $1 million hidden in the Dominica island in the Caribbean, as featured in the new CBS reality series, Pirate Master. This silly, hard working and feisty woman is contending for the prize and ultimate title of Pirate Master.
