Landon Brown was born in 1986 and is the eldest son of New Edition member Bobby Brown, an R&B singer known as the bad boy on the stage. His mother is Melika Williams. Landon started performing when he was just a kid and he takes pride in writing his own songs and raps. “I take my lyrics and writing skill as serious as my vocal ability,” said Landon.
Landon Brown’s music is inspired by real situations he encountered in the past. He is aware that other people might be experiencing what he has gone through and hopes to relate to them through his songs.
He names Prince, Maxwell, Music Soulchild, D’Angelo and Craig David as his musical influences. Landon also enjoys the music of Tyrese and Glenn Lewis.
On being Bobby Brown’s son, Landon had this to say: “I love my father, but he isn't the reason for my music. Just because you're someone's son doesn't mean you have the talent they have. But it also doesn't mean you can't be better than them either.” He and his father has a relationship that is best described as close but competitive. Both adventurous, the father and son often spend time attempting to one-up each other.
In 2005, his father’s life was chronicled on Bravo’s Being Bobby Brown but Landon Brown refused to make appearances on the show.
Landon Brown is one of the nine contestants on MTV’s reality talent search Rock the Cradle, wherein offspring of pop and rock stars compete to prove that the talent is in their genes. He decided to be a part of the contest because he believed the exposure will help his career.
Landon admits he loves to compete and is bringing along some lessons with him. “I’ve learned from my father’s mistakes. I do me, but I tone myself down a little more, except on stage. I’ll try not to take my shirt off up there. They told me not to,” he said.
