Biography

Actress Kim Schraner was born in Toronto, Canada and studied playing the classical piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music. She also studied ballet through the Royal Academy of Dance program. At the age of 14, she began her career by modeling for magazines and television commercials. As she completed her education, she performed for several stage productions like Waiting for Godot, Uncle Vanya, Top Girls, As You Like It, and The Plague. Her acting career began in 1993, but she started out with small roles. Kim Schraner’s early appearances include those in Rapture, Ultimate Betrayal and TV series like Due South, Forever Knight, and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. She was also in films like Senior Trip, Summer of the Monkeys, and TV movies like Milgaard and The Hunt for the Unicorn Killer. In 1999, Schraner was seen playing the recurring character of Caroline Hamilton on Twice in a Lifetime. She was also in an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark, playing Kara Fox in “The Tale of the Laser Maze.” In 2000, she portrayed a character named Lilith on PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal. The next year, she booked a role on the thriller The Unsaid as Chloe. At that time, she was chosen to portray Jessica Lansing on the soap opera Paradise Falls. She also rose to fame for her performances in A Killing Spring, American Psycho II: All American Girl, and for her starring role in All Around the Town. In 2002, Schraner played the character Cindy in the drama Perfect Pie, which was based on a play of the same name, written by Judith Thompson. After her movie role, Schraner was chosen as the star of the children’s educational drama Spynet. She was cast as the main character Sam, working on the series until 2004. At that time, Schraner was seen on episodes of I Love Mummy, Wild Card and Doc. She also got a role in the TV movie See Jane Date, as well as playing Alice Mitchell on the direct-to-video movie A Dennis the Menace Christmas. In 2008, Kim Schraner joined the cast of the FX series Testees, where she portrayed the character Kate.
