Kevin Dunn was featured as a member of the cast in the tenth season of the MTV reality television series The Real World, titled Back to New York. He is a native of Austin, Texas, and has been described as having all the positive traits that people would want: intelligence, good looks, athletic skill, and a charming personality to boot. However, he is a survivor of testicular cancer, which he was diagnosed with during his senior year back in high school. Because of his bout with the disease, Dunn was forced to become more self-aware of the things that many of his peers took for granted.
He also decided to try living his life in a more meaningful manner, and to enjoy himself more. Dunn has undergone the stages of diagnosis, steady treatment, and slow recovery for his battle with cancer. From the whole ordeal, he has gained a better and sharper sense of humor, learning to deal with his pain and difficulties by making light of them. Dunn has likewise been described as having gained a greater sensitivity for the people around him and their issues, along with a bedrock of spirituality which he draws his inner strength from.
