Born on November 25, 1974 in Toronto, Ontario, Kenneth Alexander Mitchell was educated at University of Guelph where he studied landscape architecture and played for the school soccer team as a striker. He later discovered his love for acting after working at Kilcoo Camp in Minden, Ontario. There, he first entered as a camper but eventually he graduated to camp instructor and counselor.
"That was a big part of my life," Kenneth Mitchell said in talking about his experience in the camp. "It taught me many things about people, friendships, love of the environment, learning to laugh and cry, learning to appreciate people, love and dance."
The camp hosted his first experience in acting, and this was very special to him. However, he knew that he must have a fallback, thus he educated himself before pursuing an acting career. Upon graduation, he worked at the landscape architecture department of ESG International Inc. While working there, he began appearing on television commercials and was eventually moved to ESG's Toronto office. While at Toronto, he worked with acting coach David Rotenberg, who helped him hone his talent in acting.
Mitchell's early acting work was for Leap Years, where he played Spencer Matthew. He also appeared on Odyssey 5 as Marc Taggart. As for the big screen, he appeared on films such as Green (2001), Charms for the Easy Life (2002), Miracle (2002), and Home of the Giants (2007). His later television credits include Grey's Anatomy, CSI: Miami, The Unit and Jericho as Eric Green.
In talking about his love for acting, Mitchell said, “I love the feeling I get performing for people. I love to provoke emotions in myself and have an outlet for my emotions. I love to see people laugh and cry.”
Kenneth Mitchell married actress Susan May Pratt in May 2006, and fathered their first baby girl, Lilah Ruby Mitchell. When Jericho was canceled in 2008, he decided to venture into other small screen pursuits. After appearing on an episode of Flashpoint, he landed the part of Sam on several episodes of Ghost Whisperer. Since then, he has signed on for roles in Iron Road and Meteor: Path to Destruction.
