Thirty eight year old Kendra Guffey was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. Guffey grew up fishing and hunting, thus becoming a skilled outdoorswoman. In October 2006, she returned from a trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. Travel is her passion, having been all over the world. In 1989 she became a certified scuba diver, exploring the 38-degree waters of Alaska. She is currently a dive master with a certification in shark diving from South Africa. When Guffey was in high school, she also actively participated in theater, marching band, pep club, art club and French club. She single-handedly funded her college education by working summers a fresh/frozen fish-packing plant and successfully earned her Bachelor's degree in English from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. She was then hired by Sony Pictures for the scuba department and later on worked as a sound restoration coordinator and administrative assistant. This multitalented woman's extracurricular activities include historical reenactments of Victorian balls, sewing costumes, cooking period food from historical cookbooks, and sports like kickboxing, running, hiking and core training.
Kendra Guffey is one of the sixteen modern day pirates sent on a journey to find the $1 million dollar hidden treasure in the Caribbean island of Dominica on CBS’ new reality show, Pirate Master. This born leader is presumed to be Captain and is a woman who is knowledgeable about surviving off the land and how to manipulate the people around her to suit her needs. She has a strong nature, a good foundation for being the leader of the ship. She is not to be taken for granted, as Guffey is an intelligent and physically strong woman—the epitome of brawn and brains.
