Canadian film and television actress Kelly Rowan was born on October 26, 1965 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from Toronto’s Northern Secondary School and briefly attended the University of Western Ontario. She left the University at 19 before she attained her degree in English Literature, in order to join the cast of the Canadian series Mount Royal. She later continued her acting education at the British American Drama Academy and later relocated to New York City to gain experience at the famed Neighborhood Playhouse. She has also taken playwriting courses at the University of California, Los Angeles and even wrote her own play. Another credit that the actress has to her name is her modeling experience, which she began during her college years. Later on, she was seen on several commercials which helped jumpstart her acting career in 1980.
Kelly Rowan made her mark on films like The Gate, Hook starring Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman, and Three to Tango. She has also made an appearance on A Girl Thing and One Eight Seven. She became a guest star on numerous TV shows, acting on Another World, Street Legal, Growing Pains, Dallas, The Outer Limits, Da Vinci’s Inquest and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In 1993, Rowan won a Gemini award for her work in the TV film, Adrift. She later got a recurring role in the series Boomtown, playing the deceived wife of Neal McDonough’s character. In 2003, she joined the cast of the FOX series The O.C., playing the character Kirsten Cohen. The series gained popularity, and Rowan won the Prism Award for her portrayal of a recovering alcoholic mother. Her other projects include roles in the TV movie In God’s Country, and has appeared with Freddie Prinze Jr. in the film Jack and Jill vs. the World. Another role that she took on was in Peter Gallagher’s music video for the song “Still I Long For Your Kiss.”
