American actress and former model Kelly Preston was born on October 13, 1962 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her real name is Kelly Kamalelehua Palzis and she attended Pembroke School in Adelaide and later Punahou School, before studying drama and theater at the University of Southern California.
When she was 16, a fashion photographer discovered her and helped her find work acting in commercials and other small parts. Kelly Preston developed a successful movie career, and first appeared in an episode of Hawaii Five-O in 1980. She was cast as Doreen in 1983’s 10 to Midnight, but was credited as Kelly Palzis. In the TV movie For Love and Honor, she was given the role of Mary Lee. She had supporting roles in many TV movies like The Perfect Bride and The American Clock in 1991 and 1993 respectively.
Kelly Preston also appeared in Only You as Amanda Hughes and was in Double Cross and Love is a Gun. In 1996 she played numerous roles like Newscaster Kelly Houge in From Dusk Till Dawn and Curdled. She portrayed Avery Bishop in Jerry Maguire, with Tom Cruise and Cuba Gooding, Jr. The next year she was in Addicted to Love and Nothing to Lose. Kelly Preston also played the wife of Michael Keaton’s character in the family film Jack Frost. She was also the girlfriend of real-life husband John Travolta in the 2000 sci-fi Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000.
In 2003, she was seen in films such as View from the Top and as Libby Reynolds in What A Girl Wants, with Colin Firth. She was the Mom in Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat and guest-starred in the TV series Joey with Matt LeBlanc. In 2005 she played the superhero Jetstream in Disney’s Sky High, also starring Kurt Russell. She also has a part in 2007’s Death Sentence and 2008’s TV series Medium.
