Born July 9, 1957, Kelly McGillis is an American actress. She was born to Joan and Donald McGillis, in Newport Beach, California. She attended the Julliard School’s Drama Division and graduated in 1983.In 1982, she and her roommate were sexually assaulted in their home, and the experience encouraged her to pursue her film role in The Accused. In it, she plays Kathryn Murphy, the lawyer who supports Jodie Foster’s character.
Her first role was as Geneva Spofford in 1983’s Reuben, Reuben. This was followed by an appearance in the TV series Sweet Revenge. She also portrayed Rachel Lapp in 1985’s thriller Witness, which also starred Harrison Ford. For her performance, she received a Golden Globe nomination. In 1986, she played Charlie in Top Gun and was the narrator for the TV movie Santabear’s First Christmas. Before The Accused, she played Emily in The House on Carroll Street.
Kelly McGillis was also the lead female in The Babe in 1992, acting alongside John Goodman. She had guest roles in many made-for-television movies, including Remember Me, We the Jury in 1996, The Third Twin and Perfect Prey in 1997. The next year, she was given the role of Nettie in Painted Angels and was Jamie Marshall in the TV movie Stormchasers: Revenge of the Twister. She was also in Ground Control, Morgan’s Ferry, The Settlement and At First Sight. In 2000, she was in one episode of The Outer Limits and played Professor Diana Maitland in The Monkey’s Mask.
She has appeared in numerous stage plays, like The Graduate as Mrs. Robinson in 2004. Kelly McGillis was also in a variety of TV series like 1995’s Dark Eyes and 2008’s The L Word. She provided the voice for the character Winema in the animated movie The Wild Thornberrys. Kelly had supporting roles in Cold Shoulder and Black Widower in 2006, and Supergator in 2007.
