With many credits to his name, Justin Timberlake continues his career as an American pop singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer and actor. He was born on January 31, 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee and has English ancestry.
In 1993, Justin joined The Mickey Mouse Club, where he met band mate JC Chasez. When the show ended, he recruited Chasez into an all-male singing group organized by Lou Pearlman, a manager for boy bands. The group came to be known as *NSYNC. The group released their self-titled debut album in 1998, which became a big hit with fans. The album sold 11 million copies and included a number of hit singles. Their second album, No Strings Attached, was released in March 2000 and became the fastest selling album of all time. It sold 2.4 million copies in its first week. Their third album, Celebrity¸ was also a hit. After the success of their last album, the group decided to take a hiatus. Justin Timberlake began to work on his solo album, Justified, and went on to be a success.
His first claim to movie fame was in 1999, in the made-for-TV movie Model Behavior, where he played the role of a fictional celebrity named Jason Sharpe. In 2004, he took on the role of a journalist Josh Pollack in Edison Force. He was also in Alpha Dog and Southland Tales in 2006. He was also cast as Ronnie in Black Snake Moan. In 2007, he lent his voice to the character Artie, a young King Arthur in the animated film Shrek the Third, with Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and his then-girlfriend Cameron Diaz. Justin has also appeared as a young Elton John in Elton’s music video.
Justin’s solo career as a pop artist continued to grow when he released his second album, FutureSex/LoveSounds in 2006. He has won six Grammy awards and an Emmy award.
Agreed to host ESPN's annual ESPY Awards show, slated to take place July 20, 2008 at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.
