Born Josephina Victoria Occhiuto on October 7, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York, Joy Behar was educated at Queens College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and a Master of Arts degree in English Education from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She also used to be a teacher at Lindenhurst High School on Long Island. Behar is an actress and comedian, and best known for her role as co-host of The View
alongside Barbara Walters, Rosie O'Donnell, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Behar is an avid supporter of taxpayer-funded embryonic stem-cell research and same-sex marriage, among other liberal positions. She strongly is against the Bush administration and has received criticism for her loud opinions on political issues.
Joy Behar joins Barbara Walters, Rosie O'Donnell, Elisabeth Hasselbeck to host ABC's The View, a recipient of the 2003 Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Talk Show". It has run ten seasons and features hot news topics, celebrity interviews, general entertainment, and awareness issues for the youth and women.
