Biography

Jordan Carlos is a stand-up comedian and TV show host who has appeared on various television series. He attended and graduated from Brown University, then began working as a copywriter for an ad firm based in New York. With this day job, he financed his budding career in start-up comedy during the night. Carlos eventually decided to quit his day job altogether and focus exclusively on doing comedy. Among the television productions he has worked on are Jonny Zero, Exposing the Order of the Serpentine, and Wildest Dating Show Moments. He has also served as a co-host of the Nickelodeon children’s show Me TV.

Alan is portrayed by Jordan Carlos in the Comedy Central television series The Colbert Report. He is the titular anchorman’s former “black friend,” though he was demoted to “black acquaintance” after Colbert saw him march during a liberal anti-war demonstration. Ever since Alan was demoted, Colbert has been searching for a new “black friend” but has been unsuccessful thus far. The anchorman has declared himself as completely anti-racist, up to the point of being unable to see or distinguish people’s skin tones, and thus was unable to tell at first that Alan was a black man.
