John O’ Hurley Biography:
Actor John Gerald O’ Hurley was born on October 9, 1956 in Kittery, Maine. He was a student of Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford, Connecticut, and is a graduate of Providence College, where he was the only theater major among his batch. He is well-known for his portrayal of obnoxious, yet highly humorous, characters, as well as his work the series of radio and television commercials for General Communications, Inc. One of his most memorable television appearances is his portrayal of J. Peterman on the hit comedy series, Seinfeld. In 2006, O’Hurley replaced Richard Kam as the host of the popular game show, Family Feud.
As a contestant on the first season of the ABC reality hit series, Dancing with the Stars, O’ Hurley did very well with his dancing partner, Charlotte Jorgensen, and came close to winning the competition. O’ Hurley placed second and lost to soap opera star Kelly Monaco
and her partner Alec Mazo
, but his defeat created a string of audience complaints and accusations of foul play. ABC decided to put an end to all the commotion by creating a special episode where O’Hurley and Monaco, with their respective dancing partners, faced each other again on the dance floor. Surprisingly, the results of the rematch were in the favor of O’Hurley and Jorgensen.
