John Benjamin Hickey is an openly gay actor who has successfully established himself in the world of theater. He has worked in Broadway productions of play Love! Valour! Compassion!, Cabaret, The Crucible and The Normal Heart, which earned him a Tony Award for best performance by a featured actor.
Hickey, who earned his bachelor's degree in English at Fordham University, quickly transitioned from stage to the silver screen. In 1992, he was cast in The Bet and then later found himself landing roles in Only You, Comfortably Numb, Eddie, Love! Valour! Compassion!, The Ice Storm, The General's Daughter, The Bone Collector, Flag of our Fathers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, among other films.
On TV, Hickey became known to viewers as Philip Stoddard in It's All Relative. He also played Aaron Solomon on Law and Order. At present, he stars as Sean Tolkey on Showtime's The Big C.
