John Parot became known for being one of the contestants of Bravo's reality TV series Work of Art:The Next Great Artist. He started early, making art at the age of five and in the 1990s, he had his first gallery show. He has since pursued a degree at Maryland Institute College of Art. Later on, he received a post-graduate fellowship at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. He worked as an art studio manager in Los Angeles and was even commissioned to create a piece for Mini Cooper's rooftop. It was auctioned off for charity, and he continued his career with several solo shows and group exhibitions. His work was even displayed at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Focusing on painting, he hopes to integrate the gay community in his work. Since leaving the show, he had an exhibit at his gallery in Chicago and had a book signing party with Penguin.
