Jim Rash aspired to be in the limelight when he was just a child. His need to entertain and make people laugh developed into something lucrative. Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, he began his acting career on stage. He soon worked his way onto television, but still harbors the desire to do more live theater shows.
Jim Rash’s early appearances on television include those in Cybill, Tracey Takes On, The Naked Truth, Becker and Clueless. In 2000, he was cast in the short comedy Auto Motives, along with James Cameron and Robert Downey Jr. Rash later got roles in The Hughleys, The Practice, and several other movies. He appeared in the TV production Loomis, as well as the direct-to-vide feature Hiding in Walls. In 2002, he obtained a role in the thriller One Hour Photo, starring Robin Williams. Rash was also cast in Slackers, and got a small role as a technician in the blockbuster film Minority Report. That year, Rash was also seen on the sci-fi drama S1m0ne, enabling him to work alongside Al Pacino, Winona Ryder, Jay Mohr, and Catherine Keener. After appearing on the sitcom Less Than Perfect, Rash was seen on an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He also got a role in the telefilm Alligator Point, as well as on episodes of The Guardian and Coupling. In 2003, he starred as George in the short comedy George & Gracie, and followed it up with guest roles in Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service, It’s All Relative and Friends. He later voiced a character in the animated series Grim & Evil, and appeared on Jake in Progress and Will & Grace. In 2005, he was cast in his best-known role, as the sidekick of Royal Pain in the film Sky High. At that time, Rash was also playing a recurring character in the hit series That ‘70s Show, as Fenton. He was seen in the comedy Partner(s) as well, before he joined the cast of the ABC sitcom Help Me Help You as Jonathan. Rash’s other roles have been in Case Closed, Smiley Face, The Nines and Halfway Home. In 2007, he landed a part in the comedy film Balls of Fury, and appeared on episodes of Eli Stone, Samantha Who?, and Reno 911!
