American film and television actress Jessica Marie Alba was born on April 28, 1981 in Pomona, California. Her interest in acting was developed at a young age, expressing it at the age of five. She eventually attended the Atlantic Theater Company after graduating from high school at age 16.
In 1994, Jessica Alba appeared in the family comedy Camp Nowhere. This was followed by two commercials for Nintendo and J.C. Penney. She was then cast in several independent films before landing the role of Jessica in The Secret World of Alex Mack, a Nickelodeon television series. She then appeared in 1995’s Venus Rising, and was on numerous TV shows. She was in Chicago Hope and was then given the role of Maya in the series Flipper. Jessica Alba was also in the crime-drama Brooklyn South, and was afterwards cast as Leanne in two episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210. In 1999, she appeared in the Randy Quaid comedy P.U.N.K.S. Her breakthrough Hollywood role was as Kirsten in Never Been Kissed, where she acted alongside Drew Barrymore. She was also the female lead in the comedy-horror Idle Hands that same year.
Jessica Alba was picked by writer/director James Cameron to play the Max Guevara on the FOX network’s sci-fi series Dark Angel. Her performance earned her critical acclaim and a Golden Globe nomination. She is also noted for her portrayal of the title character in 2003’s Honey and her role as Nancy Callahan in Sin City. She was also cast as Marvel Comics’ Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman in the Fantastic Four movies. In 2005, she appeared in Into the Blue, and in 2007 played Cam Wexler in Good Luck Chuck. She has also appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine’s March 2006 issue. Jessica Alba was also cast in her first horror film role, Sydney Wells in the remake of The Eye.
