Jerry Rice Biography:
Jerry Lee Rice was born on October 13, 1962 in Crawford, Mississippi. He was a student of B.L. Moor High School, where he became one of the best football players in his batch. However, Rice didn’t have any real plans of joining the football team until he was caught cutting school one day. The principal discovered him outside of school premises during class hours, and when he called Rice’s name, Rice immediately took off. The principal was impressed with Rice’s speed and after punishing Rice, he quickly referred him to the school’s football coach. From there, Rice took on the position of defensive back, occasionally also playing running back and even quarterback. His talent on the football field merited him a scholarship at the Mississippi State University and from there, embarked on a successful football career right into the NFL, where he became a player for the San Francisco 49ers. His numerous recognitions include the 1996 Pro Bowl MVP award, the 1993 AP OFF POY, the 1988 Super Bowl MVP award and the 1988 PFWA MVP award.
In 2005, Rice was invited to join season 2 of the reality series, Dancing with the Stars, where he was partnered with Anna Trebunskaya. Although they weren’t among the strongest contenders in the beginning, Rice’s charming personality and strong determination won him and Trebunskaya the votes of the viewers. They were able to make it to the Top 2, where they ultimately lost to the tandem of singer Drew Lachey
and dancer Cheryl Burke
