Shoes are the highlight of Jerell Scott’s fashion statement. Coming from Houston, Texas, Jerell found his way into fashion designing through modeling. His passion arose when he realized that he couldn’t afford “the cool stuff” he wore during shows. He ended up teaching himself how to make the clothing he wanted to wear, and joining Project Runway to improve his skills.
Jerell describes himself as eclectic and bold, as well as having a unique eye for details. It is his desire to create pieces that enhance and express the individuality of a person. He is motivated by designers like Alexander McQueen, Vivien Westwood and Karl Lagerfeld, and is inspired by life itself. To him, his designs can be classified as “raw beauty.”
He rose to fame as a designer on the Bravo reality series Project Runway, appearing on season 5. He was praised by the judges throughout the competition, and he ended up placing fourth among his fellow designers in the end. Since his departure from the show, he has continued to work on his womenswear collections.
In 2011, Lifetime announced that Jerell would be one of the contestants of Project Runway All Stars.
