Biography

Actor Jeff Conaway was born October 5, 1950 in New York, New York.  He is the youngest of three children and he often dreamt of becoming an astronaut when he was a kid.  He started his acting career at the tender age of nine, and made his Broadway debut on the play All the Way Home.  Shortly after, he toured around the nation for the production of Critic's Choice.

When he was 16 years old, Conaway's passion for music pushed him to join a band.  He was singer and rhythm guitarist for 3 1/2 and they toured with different bands including Herman's Hermits, The Animals, Gladys Knight and the Pips.  They even had the opportunity to back up for one of the pioneers of rock and roll music, Chuck Berry.

Jeff Conaway eventually returned to the performing world.  He took up a major in theater at New York University.  He then played Danny Zuko on the Broadway musical Grease.  In 1978, he played Kenickie on the film version of Grease, where he was asked to stand and walk slightly crouched down so that lead actor John Travolta would look taller.

He also took the role of Bobby Wheeler on the comedy series Taxi.  He has appeared on numerous TV shows such as Matlock, Freddy's Nightmares, The Bold and the Beautiful , Monsters, Babylon 5, Barnaby Jones, George and Leo and Murder, She Wrote.

His films include Jawbreaker, Man on the Moon, The Eagle Has Landed, The Utah Murder Project, Tale of Two Sisters, Living the Dream, The Pool 2, Shadow of Doubt, The Last Embrace and L.A Goddess.

He currently lives in Los Angeles with wife Kerri. He also holds acting classes weekly.

Jeff Conaway can be seen on VH1's reality TV series Celebrity Rehab .  The show documents the experiences of celebrities as they undergo drug, alcohol and addiction treatment program.  It chronicles their journey towards rehabilitation and recovery.  Jeff is seeking help for his addiction to alcohol, steroids and painkillers.

- His first wife is Rona Newton-John. They divorced and he later married Kerri Young.

- As a child, he dreamed of becoming an astronaut.
