Biography

Born on November 15, 1971 in Boston, Massachusetts, Jay Harrington is an actor best known for his role as Dr. Ron McCready on the ABC series Desperate Housewives and as Dr. Wyatt Lockhart in the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Private Practice, also on ABC. He also bagged the lead in a string of television series, such as the WB drama Summerland, the short-lived Fox series The Inside, and on NBC’s coupling. He studied theater at Syracuse University before he decided to pursue acting professionally on stage and screen. Today, he lives in Los Angeles, and he’s an avid sports fan who plays in a private celebrity basketball league plus skating for a local amateur ice hockey team. Harrington’s television credits include Dr. Simon O’Keefe on the WB drama Summerland, as FBI Special Agent Paul Ryan on Fox’s The Inside, as Steve on NBC’s Coupling, as Dr. Wyatt Lockhart on five episodes of Private Practice, as Dr. Ron McCready on Desperate Housewives, and, much recently, as the led in the ABC comedy Better Off Ted. His other screen credits include Nash Bridges, Star Trek: Voyager, The Shield, The Division, Without a Trace, Las Vegas, and Ghost Whisperer. Harrington also appeared in several feature films, including the 2000 teen comedy Whatever It Takes and the 1999 drama Anywhere but Here. His other film credits include several independently produced features, such as Catalina Trust, A Little Inside, and Partner(s). He then starred as Jack in Boy’s Life, as well as the off-Broadway productions of Barefoot in the Park and Tony and Tina’s Wedding.
