Jason Yeager is a 28 year old natural musician from Grand Prairie, Texas. He grew up singing with his mom and then on from there and also plays the piano and guitar by ear. Jason Yeager was someone who didn't much of any screen time on American Idol prior to the Top 24. Jason is a religious man, and is a big fan of Journey, Boyz II Men and Carrie Underwood.
"It's a big, emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end," Jason said of his stint on American Idol, which ended on February 28. "I don't think I was really prepared to deal with all of the stress of it all, especially the criticism, being on national TV like that. I hope that that's not what I'm remembered for, because I took everything with a grain of salt and just tried to be myself and be content with the fact that I am Top 20 out of 102,000 people that auditioned. I think that it's a huge accomplishment."
He revealed in his exit interview that he had quite a hard time dealing with the criticisms that were thrown at him, especially being in front of so many people. He said, "I just tried to really learn to deal with criticism. I think in the music business, if I really want to be, get a record deal, that I'm going to have to face a lot of that. I'm just really going to have to deal with people's opinions and not let that get to me, because I think subconsciously, I was more worried about what the judges were thinking about me and trying to please them, rather than just really trying to focus on the people who were voting out there."
