Biography

Born on June 12, 1974 in New Jersey, Jason Mewes is an American television and film actor. He graduated from Henry Hudson Regional in 1992, and had his film debut in the movie Clerks, a comedy by Kevin Smith. He became well-known as his character, Jay, along with Kevin Smith’s Silent Bob, and this was followed by Mallrats in 1995. The next year, Mewes appeared as Az in Drawing Flies and was once again given the role of Jay in Chasing Amy in 1997. In 1999, he was featured in Spilt Milk and Dogma, and had a minor role in The Blair Clown Project.

In 2000, Jason Mewes was seen as Jay again in Scream 3, which also features Kevin Smith. He was also in Vulgar before being cast in the TV series Clerks, appearing in six episodes from 2000 to 2001. That year, he appeared in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, a film he is most remembered for. He was also cast in minor roles in movies such as Hot Rush, R.S.V.P., and High Times Potluck, all in 2002. He was credited as Jaw Mewes for playing Jay the MC in 2003’s comedy Pauly Shore is Dead. Jason Mewes also voiced the villain in the short comedy Powder: Up Here. In 2005, he was cast in the TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation, where he played himself. He was also given supporting roles in Tom 51, The Pleasure Drivers, and was the voice of the answering machine in My Big Fat Independent Movie. The next year, he reprised his role as Jay in Clerks II, as well as appearing as Owen Peadman in Bottoms Up. Jason Mewes has also provided the voiceover for the thief in the videogame Scarface: The World is Yours. In 2007, he was cast in Netherbeast Incorporated, and has appeared on an episode of Head Case.
