Jason Glover is part of the top 20 dancers in the fifth season of So You Think You Can Dance. The 21-year-old was born in Fresno, CA, where he currently lives. A big fan of Michael Jackson, he began dancing at age 12, taking up tap and hip hop. He specializes in lyrical and contemporary dances.
Glover, a Bullard High School graduate who specializes in contemporary/lyrical dance, has drawn some tough assignments with partner Caitlin Kinney in the first four weeks of the show. The most notable came last week with a weird pop-jazz routine choreographed by Brian Friedman that made Kinney a vanquishing space alien trying to impregnate the last remaining human, played by Glover.
Fresno's Jason Glover dances toward his dream:
Fresno’s Jason Glover, one of 20 finalists for this season of the Fox series “So You Think You Can Dance,” is keeping close to his heart the words of wisdom he got from actor/dancer Gregory Hines.
In 2003, Hines’s dance tour made a stop in Fresno. As part of the show, the actor/dancer invited several local people on stage. One of those novice dancers was a 15-year-old Glover. Hines was so impressed with Glover, he invited the Fresnan and his mother, Sylvia Glover, to a small party after the show.
“He took me by the shoulder and said, ‘Jason, you are an amazing talent. You will be famous one day. Always be humble and remember the people who loved you and who got you here.’ That hit a real note with me. I knew then I wanted to be a dancer,” Glover said.
That was just the confidence boost that jason needed to continue with dancing. Several years of training later, 20 year old glover decided to try out for season 4 of so you think you can dance! When he auditioned in Los Angeles, the judges were impressed by his skill and passion for dance. So impressed that he got a ticket to Vegas!
Sadly, he was cut before making the top 40.
However being cut didn't stop him from dancing. A year later he tried again & made it all the way to the top 10! Since then his partner "Caitlin Kinney" has been eliminated.
The first four weeks of the finals have been a long, hard slog for Glover. No couple has had worse luck than Glover and his partner Caitlin Kinney.
In their first week, they were assigned a Bollywood routine -- way out of their comfort zone. But they persevered. Crisp in their movements and infectiously cheerful in their demeanor, the couple seemed a possible front-runner.
In the second week, however, they got a mediocre hip-hop piece choreographed by Shane Sparks. It was a weird, soulless, almost avant-garde derivation of hip-hop, and it didn't work. The result was a sort of plastic inauthenticity that suggested a pair of Old Navy mannequins dancing after hours. The judges thought it was a disaster.
In the third week, the pair drew another tough genre: the fiery Paso Doble, choreographed by Jean-Marc and France Genereux. The choreography and setting were an over-the-top miscalculation. Glover's bare-chested Roman gladiator-style costume was like watching a musical version of "Spartacus." The music was the oft-played "O Fortuna" from "Carmina Burana," and it served as the scene's battering ram.
Then, in the fourth week, they were stuck with what surely has to be one of the weirdest routines ever on the show: a "pop jazz" piece choreographed by Brian Friedman that involved -- I am not making this up -- a latex-and-tin-foil clad Kinney playing a space alien who comes to Earth to impregnate the last human, played by Glover. The dance came complete with Glover's body twitching through what we can only assume was the alien fertilization process.
But after all his struggles & obstacles on this show, jason still came out on top. A guaranteed spot on the sytycd tour & in the top ten, maybe we can finally get to see jason sore in this compotion and take his rightful spot back as the leader of the group of male dancers left on the show.
Jason is the seventh male contestant to be eliminated from the competition.

Was inspired by Nick from season one: “I was going through a tough time. I was not wanting to dance at the time. I was getting teased a lot. And seeing him dance, he came out and did this solo to “Storm” by Lifehouse and he danced so masculine, but he was so… I don’t know the word for it… I’m going to say, pretty. It was really cool to watch that and right then I was like, okay, I can do this. I wasn’t scared anymore.”
This is what can happen when you finally overcome junior rheumatoid arthritis: You start dancing. Glover, a lyrical contemporary specialist from Fresno, was a tortured kid. “I used to come home crying every day,” he says. “My mom used to have to massage my little legs and arms, and hold me, because I’d be sobbing so much.” The pain subsided at age 12, and Glover started dancing. “I still have aches now and then, but it doesn’t stop me,” he says.
Rumor has it that Jason is currently dating "Janette Manrara", fellow season 5 contestant from Miami.
