Jasika Nicole is an American actress and illustrator originally from Birmingham, Alabama. She attended a private college in North Carolina, where she majored in theatre, voice and dance. When she was in high-school, she became part of the show choir. She soon moved to New York City to pursue an acting career.
Jasika Nicole was cast as the title role in the world premiere of the musical Chasing Nicolette. She starred opposite Bronson Pinchoot and has since appeared on several stage productions in New York. She was in the off-Broadway 60’s musical Caf? A Go Go, as well as Believe in Me…A Bigfoot Musical in 2004 at the NYC Fringe Festival. She was cast in Law & Order: Criminal Intent in 2005 as Gisella. She also voiced her character in the show’s video game spin-off. Nicole’s feature film debut came when she landed the role of Egypt in the dance movie Take the Lead. She was cast alongside Antonio Banderas in the 2006 drama. Several television and commercial appearances followed, and she was soon cast as the antagonist Penny in the NBC sitcom pilot The Mastersons of Manhattan. In 2008, she completed the Dreamworks film She’s Out of My League with Jay Baruchel. She was also cast in two episodes of The Return of Jezebel James, where she played Dora. Soon, she was chosen by J.J. Abrams, creator of award-wining series like Lost, Alias and Felicity, to play Astrid Farnsworth in the sci-fi drama Fringe. Nicole has also continued her passion for drawing and sketching. She displayed her work on her website, and has acquired an enthusiastic fan base. Most of her illustrations have already been commissioned and sold worldwide. Her work also involves creating a line of eco-friendly tote bags that will showcase her drawings. She has also worked on an autobiographical comic called High Yella Magic.
