Jamie Newton was born on January 26, 1981 in Douglas, Georgia, where he grew up with his identical twin brother, Ramie. He has also held residence in Atlanta and Jacksonville, Florida. While he was a finance major at Central Missouri State University, he became the 1999 Regional wrestling champion. After his graduation, Newton decided to explore other occupations, which include working as a ski instructor at a children's camp and becoming a television actor. In 2003, he was seen in an episode of the soap opera, All My Children
, and from there, continued to work as an extra in many other productions. Newton enjoys going scuba diving, snowboarding and wakeboarding.
He got a chance to show off his adventurous side when he became a contestant on Survivor: Guatemala. Initially from the Yaxha tribe, Newton believed that his ability to figure out and bond with people would bring him far in the competition, and even win him the title of Sole Survivor. After spending nine days competing for Yaxha, he became a member of the opposite tribe, Nakum. Eventually, he became a part of the merged tribe, Xhakum, but was voted off the game a week after the merger. His cockiness, paranoia and incessant dishonesty all compelled his fellow tribe members to eliminate him from the competition.
