American actor James LeGros was born on April 27, 1962 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Raised in Redlands, California as an only child, he trained with the South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, and later studied at the University of California. He started acting in 1984, initially taking on guest roles in different television shows such as Knight Rider, Punky Brewster and Simon and Simon. However, he is best known for his varied and wide range of films in the ‘80s and ‘90s, with him being touted as a darling of the independent film circuit.

LeGros’ films include Phantasm II, Point Break, Singles, Where the Day Takes You, Floundering, Thursday, Enemy of the State, November and The Last Winter. One of his most memorable film roles, though, was in the 1995 dark comedy Living in Oblivion, where he played selfish actor Chad Palomino, who decides to star in a low-budget film in order to gain critical acclaim. This role earned him an Independent Spirit Award nomination in 1996, for best supporting actor. His more recent films include Sherman’s Way, Zodiac and Vantage Point.

His earliest notable television role was in the medical drama ER, where he played the recurring role of Max Rocher, the boyfriend of pediatric resident Anna del Amico (Maria Bello) who entered just as she was becoming close with John Carter (Noah Wyle). In 2000, he joined the cast of Ally McBeal, playing the role of eccentric and skilled new associate Mark Albert. In 2005, he was the lead actor in the Showtime miniseries Sleeper Cell, where he plays an FBI agent who supervises an infiltration operation on a sleeper terrorist cell in Los Angeles. Quotes

-Film and theater are both like running, but on the stage you're kinda doing the 5,000-meter steeple chase, and in movies you're doing the 110 high hurdles, and any little mistake is disastrous.

-I collect misspelling of my last name. Jame McRoy, McGros, Legras--it's become kind of a sport.

(Talking about the movie Solarbabies)
-The great thing about that job was I lived in Spain for five months. That part of it was great, but it was a terrible movie!
