Ian Gomez got his start in acting in 1993, making his debut in the film Excessive Force, and later recurring in Missing Persons. His first major role was in The Drew Carey Show, where he played his co-worker Larry Almada. He also had a recurring role on Felicity, as Javier Quintata, although he was later promoted to a series regular. In 1999, he was part of the comedy series The Norm Show.
In 2005, he was part of the short-lived John Stamos comedy Jake in Progress; three years later he was in another short-lived effort, Rita Rocks. In 2009, he joined a more successful comedy, ABC's Cougar Town.
Gomez is married to actress Nia Vardalos, who he co-starred with in Connie and Carla, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and the latter's sequel, My Life in Ruins. The two have an adopted daughter.
