Born on May 31, 1963 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Hugh Dillon is an actor and musician who is best known for being the lead singer for the hard rock band The headstones which disbanded in 2003 and his stint on the Canadian television series Durham County. Dillon became the lead singer for the Kingston-based band from 1987 up until 2003, during which time they became one of the most commercially successful Canadian band of the 1990s. 2003 forward, he formed the band Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir, an indie rock band whose style has country, pop, punk, and New Wave influences. They are scheduled to release the second album in 2009.
Dillon made his acting debut in director Bruce McDonald’s Dance Me Outside in 1995, followed by another McDonald opus in the 1996 feature film Hard Core Logo. The film reportedly caught the attention of Quentin Tarantino, who distributed the movie overseas via his company Rolling Thunder Pictures. His other movie credits include Lone Hero, Ginger Snaps: The Beginning, and Trailer Park Boys: The Movie, where he received a Genie Award nom for Best Supporting Actor. As for the silver screen, he had guest-starred on The Eleventh Hour, Regenesis, and Degrassi: The Next Generation. He landed the lead, meanwhile in the critically acclaimed Canadian miniseries Durham Country as tormented detective Mike Sweeney. In 2008, he landed a role on the CBs police drama Flashpoint.
