Born on September 18, 1964 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, actress and singer Holly Robinson Peete is the daughter of Dolores and Matt Robinson. Her father was known as the original Gordon on Sesame Street. This enabled her to appear on the show's first episode, as a little girl named Sally. She studied at Santa Monica High School and later attended classes at the Sorbonne. Afterwards, she decided to pursue a career in acting.
In 1987, Holly Robinson Peete rose to fame for playing Judy Hoffs on the police drama 21 Jump Street. Her other known roles include those on Hangin' with Mr. Cooper and For Your Love. She was also known for portraying Diana Ross in The Jacksons: An American Dream. She was later seen on Touched by an Angel, Pacific Blue, One on One and Like Family.
As for her music career, she worked on the soundtrack of the films Howard the Duck and Three for the Road. She also performed the theme song for Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, joining Dawnn Lewis and the R&B quartet En Vogue. She continued appearing on television since then, starring in the ABC comedy pilot known as The Bridget Show. In 2010, she finished as the runner-up in the NBC reality competition The Celebrity Apprentice. She even set a record for the most money made on a single task. Afterwards, she became a co-host of The Talk.
Peete is also known for her charity work, having founded the HollyRod Foundation with her husband, NFL quarterback Rodney Peete.
