Born on January 7, 1988 and raised in Naples, Florida, Haley Bennett is an American singer and actress. She was born Haley Keeling, but changed her last name to Bennett after pursuing her entertainment career. She has been acting since she was ten years old, appearing in various school plays and local productions. She studied high school at Stow-Munroe Falls High School in Ohio, and later attended Barron Collier High School. There, she studied music and acting to develop her skills. She competed at the IMTA Convention in 2001 and met her agents Mara Santino and Ryan Daly of Kazarian/Spencer & Associates. While on summer vacation, she was discovered by a record producer while viewing guitars that were once played by Jimi Hendrix. She then moved to Los Angeles, California with her mother in the hopes of becoming an actress.
In 2005, Haley Bennett made her film debut as the pop music singer Cora Corman in the 2007 film Music and Lyrics. The romantic comedy also starred Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. This was part of her three-year contract with Warner Bros. The songs she recorded for Music & Lyrics include “Buddha’s Delight,” “Way Back into Love” and “Invincible,” which can be heard in the movie’s closing credits.
In 2008, she filmed her second movie College, where she portrays the character Kendall. She was also cast in the title role of the film The Haunting of Molly Harley, which is a thriller about a child who deals with her sanity after her mother’s attempt to murder her. Her next film is 2008’s Marley & Me, which also stars Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. Bennett was also featured on MTV’s Total Request Live, as well as on the February 2007 issue of GQ magazine. She has also enlisted the help of well-known producer Chris Contogouris to record her first solo album.
