American actor Glenn Franklin Howerton III is the son of a fighter pilot, and his father's occupation made him spend his growing up years moving from one place to another. The good-looking, brunette actor, who was born in Japan, has lived in Korea, London and Alabama. He first planned to study aerospace engineering at Auburn University, but decided to take up an acting course instead in Juilliard.
In 2002, Glenn Howerton landed a role in Monday Night Mayhem. This was followed by a small role in The Job that same year. He rose to fame portraying Corey Howard in the short-lived Fox sitcom That ‘80s Show, and later played Noah Benjamin on an episode of That Was Then. After a part on E.D.N.Y., Howerton was cast in a guest-starring role in the acclaimed, long-running series ER. In 2005, he portrayed Michael in the film Must Love Dogs. That same year, he worked on Joss Whedon movie Serenity, portraying the character Lilac Young Tough.
Howerton then joined the cast of the FX sitcom, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Other than acting on the show, he has also been credited as a writer and executive producer. His character is that of Dennis Reynolds, the vain and confident twin brother of Dee. He is also one of the owners of Paddy's Pub, an Irish bar located in Philadelphia. He is usually successful when it comes to befriending women, and possesses style and swank because of his family's wealth. Dennis is a University of Philadelphia graduate who wanted to become a veterinarian before going into the bar business. He is known to be a nostalgic person, and dredges up distinctive memories such as his affection for his childhood stuffed toy and his prom date that turned sour.
Howerton has also gotten roles in Crank, Two Weeks and The Strangers. He has also set on executive producing a show titled Boldly Going Nowhere, joining his It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creators.

(On the Dating Scene)
- Well, you know what? I think the thing about society nowadays is that we don't listen to one another very much. Everybody is so scattered. So I think it takes time to get to know somebody. It takes a little bit of time. But it's tough because there's a lot of distractions.
(On being a drama teacher)
- I have been a drama teacher before, for short periods of time. Teaching anything forces you to confront what you really believe in as far as what you yourself have come to learn. In order to teach it, you must, on some level, believe in it yourself. I learned a lot from teaching and would consider it in the future as a hobby. But, not as a profession.
