Galen Laius Gering, who was born on February 13, 1971 in Los Angeles, California, was raised by a family of artists who lived a difficult hippie life. He later managed to move to New York City to launch his modeling career while finishing high school through the mail. His modeling projects required him to travel in Europe and coming home, he entered New York University for a year. Gering finished his education at University of Miami where he studied creative writing and film. Aside from acting, he is involved in filmmaking, writing and sports such as Pro-am beach volleyball. Gering also enjoys the company of his two dogs and participating in charities such as New Leash For Life.
Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald is played by Galen Gering in the soap opera, Passions. Luis, the second of five children of Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald and Martin Fitzgerald, became the father figure to his family when his father and elder brother abandoned them. While in school, he was known for his sports and academic excellence and became high school sweethearts with Beth Wallace. Their relationship was short lived and Luis soon grew up to be a police officer. He met heiress Sheridan Crane when she accidentally crashed her car into his, and the two started off on a bad note. However, they eventually fell in love and built a relationship which grew stronger as they overcame obstacles together.
