Biography

Actor Gaius Charles was born on May 2, 1983 in New York, and studied at Carnegie Mellon. He acquired his B.F.A. in drama and graduated as magna !$#!# laude. He was raised in Queens, New York and North Jersey, and attended Teaneck High School in his hometown. During his school days, he worked on several theater productions like Spunk, Candide and The Wild Party. Moreover, he starred in The Clink with the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney, Australia. Aside from acting, he has decided to pursue aviation and would like to become a private pilot in the future. Charles was also known for his involvement in Youth Ministry and participation in sports, particularly track.

Gaius Charles was first seen on an episode of the series The Book of Daniel. He was given the role of Carver, allowing him to work with Aidan Quinn, Susanna Thompson, Christian Campbell, Ivan Shaw and Alison Pill. Charles soon landed the role of Jadon Odami in the legal drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Before that, he became known for playing Brian “Smash” Williams on the series Friday Night Lights. Prior to his audition, Charles managed to sprain his foot while training. He wound up at the emergency room on the night before his performance, but was able to nail the audition a week later. His character is that of a running back for the Dillon Panthers and the most skillful member of the team. Some of the show’s other cast members are Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Zach Gilford, Minka Kelly, Taylor Kitsch and Adrianne Palicki. Friday Night Lights has already been awarded with a Peabody Award, an Emmy Award and a Television Critics Association Award. Gaius Charles has also been slated to work on Toe to Toe, a drama written and directed by Emily Abt.
