Biography

Born on January 22, 1972 in Bronx, New York, Gabriel Macht is an American actor. The son of a museum curator Suzanne Pulier and an actor and director Stephen Macht, he and his three siblings moved to California when Macht was 5. After high school, he attended Carnegie Mellon College of Fine Arts. He then went on to go abroad for a few months. In 2004, he married actress Jacinda Barrett of Bridget Jones’ Diary: Edge of Reason. The couple had their first born on August of 2007.

Gabriel Macht played his first role at the age of eight, in the 1980 comedy Why Would I Lie, where he was nominated for a Best Young Motion Picture Actor Award. He used the stage name Gabriel Swann that time. Upon returning from Europe, Macht’s first project was in the television movie Follow the River. He then appeared in a season of What the Butler Saw. He also performed as Elvis Presley in an off-Broadway production of Picasso at the Lapine Agile, by comedian Steve Martin in 1995.

Macht’s other feature credits include acclaimed independent films, such as The Adventures of Sebastian Cole, 101 Ways and The Bookie's Lament. He also remains active in theater as member of the New York-based avante-garde group Mad Dog Theater Company. In 2000, he bagged the role of William Holden in the ABC biopic The Audrey Hepburn Story.

His other screen credits include A Love Song for Bobby Long, Because I Said So, The Recruit, and Archangel. He has also been cast in the title role of The Spirit by Frank Miller. His television credits include small roles in such popular shows as Beverly Hills 90210 in 1991, Spin City in 1997, Sex and the City in 1998, and The Others in 2000. He was later cast in Numb3rs, and in 2010 he bagged the role on the TV drama Suits. His hobbies include playing billiards, whitewater rafting, snowboarding, traveling, especially to Hawaii, attending movies, and spending time with his family.
