Frankie Abernathy was featured as a member of the cast in the fourteenth season of the hit MTV reality television series The Real World, which was set in San Diego, California. She was born on December 21, 1981, and originally hails from her hometown of Kansas City in Missouri. However, she also passed away at the age of 25 on June 9, 2007 in Shorewood, Wisconsin, after a lifelong struggle with the disease of cystic fibrosis. During her time on the show, Abernathy was 21 years old. During her high school days, she studied at Blue Spring High School, also located in Missouri.
She was known for preferring punk rock music, partying all night, and shocking others with the way she dressed. Because of her severe genetic disease, she developed an attitude of living her present time as enjoyably as she could, without really looking forward to tomorrow or a long-term future. She did not stay for the full season of The Real World, however, mainly because of disagreements with fellow cast members and the problems with being separated from her boyfriend on the show. Abernathy had been involved with the tattoo magazine Prick, as well as the Art Intensity Network. After she passed away, a scholarship was named after her at her alma mater.
