Biography

Born on February 13, 1974 as Derek Watkins, Fonzworth Bentley is a hip hop artist, entertainer and fashion designer. He was originally and best known for being the personal assistant of American celebrity Diddy. Bentley’s flawless sense of style and impeccable manners embody his reputation as a man of class. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and attended North Atlanta High School. He graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in biology, before attending the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Before he was offered a job by Diddy, he took on a job at the local Polo store and was relocated to the Polo Mansion. When he left, he became an apprentice for designer Alan Flusser. He decided to pursue a career in entertainment, and was later hired as a personal assistant to Diddy.

Fonzworth Bentley has appeared in films like Honey and Fat Albert, as well as Diddy’s Making the Band 2. He rapped in Da Band’s album Too Hot for TV, and was also featured on OutKast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. He was next featured on a remix of Kanye West’s “New Workout Plan” and several other music videos. During his childhood, he had developed an interest in music. At age two, he was already studying violin and became a concertmaster at his performing arts high school. In 2008, he worked on his debut album C.O.L.O.U.R.S. or Cool Outrageous Lovers of Uniquely Raw Style.

After his performance in various entertainment endeavors, he settled into the role of being the authority on all things gentlemanly. He has published a book, Advance Your Swagger: How to Use Manners, Confidence and Style to Get Ahead, focusing on bringing grace and dignity to everyday situations. His wisdom on etiquette brought him to team up with producer Jamie Foxx, to host the reality game show From G’s to Gents.
